China's imports of rare earth magnets were up 7 percent year on year in the first two months of 2017

In the first two months of 2017, the total amount of imported rare earth magnets in China was 350 tons, up 7.0% year on year. In February, China imported 209 tons of rare earth magnets, up 27.8 percent from the same period in 2016 and 47.8 percent on the previous month.

In the first two months of 2017, the average import price of rare earth magnets in China was $89.0 per kilogram, down 10.8 per cent year on year. In February, the average unit price of Chinese rare earth permanent magnets was 83.2 usd/kg, down 15.6% from the same period in 2016, and 14.7% from the previous month.
